For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
All means all. Every human ever born.
Sin is failing to obey God, rebelling against God.
Falling short of God's Glory is missing the target / goal.
For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23
Wages; the appropriate payment for actions, behavior, in this case sin.
Death here is both physical death and spiritual death (permanent separation from God)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
God loves all humans so much that even though we are sinners, disobeying, rebelling, even fighting against God that He provided His Son, Jesus Christ, to die (pay the penalty, wages) for us.
For by grace (undeserved favor) you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:16-18
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
God has given us a gift, He paid the wages of our sin for us. We must recieve the gift by believing.
Believing has three components.
1) Knowledge; Understanding, mentally we understand the evidence.
2) Trust; Reliance on the truth of the evidence.
3) Commitment: Taking action on the evidence.
Why not trust Christ right now?
Pray (speak with God)
Dear God, I know I'm a sinner, I know my sin deserves to be punished. I believe Christ died for me and rose from the grave. I trust Jesus Christ alone as my Savior. Thank You for the forgiveness and the gift of everlasting life I now have, in Jesus' name, amen.
This is a good verse to memorize.
John 5:24
He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
